PNG to JPG converter

Convert PNG to JPG in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

About this tool

A photo or screenshot saved as PNG can be many times larger than the same picture as JPG, and plenty of forms only accept JPG. Convert it here, in your browser, without uploading it to a converter site.

PNG and JPG

  • PNG: lossless, keeps sharp edges and transparency, large for photos.
  • JPG: lossy, made for photos, no transparency, accepted almost everywhere.

What changes when you convert

  • Photos saved as PNG usually become several times smaller.
  • Transparent areas become white, because JPG has no transparency.
  • Sharp text in screenshots can soften slightly; Light keeps that to a minimum.

When to convert PNG to JPG

  • A form only accepts JPG.
  • A photo is stored as PNG and you need it smaller.
  • You don't need transparency.

Private by design

Converter websites upload your file to their servers to do this. With this tool the conversion happens in your browser: the file is never uploaded, to us or anyone else, and location data (EXIF) is removed from photos along the way.

Converting because a website only accepts JPG? Krisox Extension Pro does it for you in the upload form itself, as you upload.

Without this tool

  • Mac: open the PNG in Preview, then File → Export and choose JPEG.
  • Windows: open it in Paint, then File → Save as → JPEG picture.

Questions

Should I convert screenshots of text to JPG?

Only if the site requires it: PNG keeps text perfectly crisp. If you must, use Light and check the result.

Want to keep transparency?

Convert to WebP instead, if the site accepts it: it is small and keeps transparency.
