HEIC to PNG converter

Convert HEIC to PNG in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.

About this tool

When a HEIC photo needs to become a lossless image, for editing or for a form that wants PNG, convert it here, in your browser, without uploading it.

HEIC and PNG

  • HEIC: the iPhone's photo format: small, but Chrome can't open it and many sites reject it.
  • PNG: lossless, keeps sharp edges and transparency, large for photos.

What changes when you convert

  • PNG keeps every pixel of the decoded photo.
  • The file is much bigger than the HEIC or a JPG.
  • Rotation is applied and location data is removed.

When to convert HEIC to PNG

  • A form only accepts PNG.
  • You'll edit the photo and don't want to lose quality on each save.

Private by design

Converter websites upload your file to their servers to do this. With this tool the conversion happens in your browser: the file is never uploaded, to us or anyone else, and location data (EXIF) is removed from photos along the way.

Converting because a website only accepts PNG? Krisox Extension Pro does it for you in the upload form itself, as you upload.

Without this tool

  • Mac: open the photo in Preview, then File → Export and choose PNG.
  • Windows: with the HEIF Image Extensions installed, open it in Photos and save a copy as PNG.

Questions

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

JPG, unless you specifically need lossless or a site asks for PNG: it's far smaller and looks the same.

Is the photo uploaded?

No. It is decoded and converted inside your browser.
